Subject: Toroidal data navigation interface
HoloTorus is an interactive toroidal interface for navigating agnostic, multi-dimensional data sets. The mathematics involved with this 3-dimensional manifold allows for nearly any set of data content categorizations and attributes to be represented in a beautiful, geometric, and multi-colored form. When selecting any node on the surface of the torus, the interface will zoom into an enclosed torus, thus allowing for sets of nested data to be represented holographically. Several mathematical properties specific to toroidal geometry (ribs, facets, r-width, and R-width) can be adjusted to customize representational form in real-time.
I coordinated with team members to conduct extensive research in toroidal mathematics, then coded (Flash ActionScript) data-driven and programmatically generated 3D graphics comprising the information design and navigation interface.
HoloTorus became the celebrated and central proof of concept prototype UI for the HoloGenesis start-up in 2007.
