Subject: Archetypal Cosmology software
Period: 2004 – Present
The AION : Archetypal Cosmology software is the first on-line astrology application to represent planetary cycles and graphical ephemeris with interactive, dynamic, real-time animation.
AION is designed to demonstrate innovative methods of astrological research and representation. The software includes both geocentric and heliocentric orrery views of the planetary cycles, and a graphical ephemeris with a historical timeline from 1850 – 2050 CE. One of the primary purposes of AION is to allow for easy exploration, comparison, and presentation of the correspondences of astrological cycles to historical figures and events–the cosmodrama of the human evolutionary story matched to astrological archetypes. Another purpose of AION is to include the host of newly emerging astronomical elements in our expanding perspectives–such as Quaoar, Sedna, Eris, and the Galactic Center and Galactic Equator.
AION was designed to operate over the internet or on desktop (OSX, Windows, Linux). Currently, the full web and desktop version is not available, but will be again soon. To be notified and receive updates to AION and related software, join the Mythic Systems mailing list.
The idea for AION (Archetypal Interface and Ontological Network) was conceived, designed, and developed by myself between 2002 and 2007. The initial AION interface was conceived during formal academic studies in archetypal cosmology at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), largely inspired by the research of professor Richard Tarnas. The original AION software was designed and programmed in Flash / ActionScript. Read more about the history of AION.
AION was formally presented on multiple occasions to faculty and students at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), at Archetypal Research Collective gatherings, and at the Esalen Institute retreat center. A special version, AION : Astrology Chart, is available as a product. This basis of AION is being further developed on an on-going basis.
