About Project
Client: Pollen Nation
Subject: Event, website, and print flyers
Period: 2007
The Pollen Nation is a network of people and organizations mobilized as a response to the emerging bee crisis, and to enchant the human hive. The Pollen Nation was launched at the UNION Bee-In Social at Grace Cathedral on May 25, 2007. On this memorable evening over 300 people gathered to celebrate the magic of the bees and take conscious action to promote pollinator’s lives and the lives they touch.
My Task
I collaborated with Amira Diamond and ArtsFest to produce the first Pollen Nation event. I provided creative direction in overall branding, event design, website creation, print design, t-shirt design, and event production.
I also initiated the HyperHive project in support of the event, creating on-line and off-line tools to create greater community interaction. In this case, we created flower seed hyper-flyer packets, passed them out to attendees of the event, and then invited people to share their stories of planting seeds on the HyperHive website.
Result
Pollen Nation was one of the first initiatives to bring greater public awareness to the plight of the honey bees and other pollinators. Pollen Nation’s event, the Bee-In Social, provided a valuable service to the community by creating a networking opportunity where attendees gathered to advance professional and social objectives around this important spiritual, environmental, and justice issue.
